Hello, my name is Dorette Snover.

Bonjour, Buongiorno, and Welcome!

Starting seeds, kneading sourdough bread, and finding paths through abandoned fields; that’s where you’ll find me.

Life in the kitchen has made me a forager of delectable tales.

Hear Us Roar Podcast with Maggie Smith and Rising Stars on Voyage Raleigh. As I work on my wild DNA story, I re-discovered “Food For Thought” from my alma mater, Albright College. And in a similar vein, “Who’s Milkin’ This Cow?” on Eat, Darling, Eat.

“How Did the Bread of Dreams Come To Be?” and “Vin de Noix- The Drunken Poetry of Walnuts” on Women’s Writer’s, Women’s Books, retraces some of my fascination for, and in, France.

I call Chapel Hill, NC home and am delighted to have founded the C’est si Bon! Cooking School. Equally thrilled and grateful and proud to call it a second generation business, C’est si Bon! continues to offer boutique culinary experiences locally and around the world.

I’m the mother of two extraordinary sons. My oldest, Erick, is a culinary wizard whose artful approach to teaching everything from sushi to the Mother sauces inspires students of all ages. His excitement for travel and adventure knows no bounds, and he now leads C’est si Bon! Cooking School with a balance of precision, warmth, and wanderlust. Alongside his brilliant partner, Abbie—our program director, lavender whisperer, and globe-trotting orchestrator of boutique culinary journeys—they keep the spirit of the school thriving. Abbie’s gifts for marketing, student outreach, and her magical ability to midwife both ideas and golden retriever puppies into the world make her an indispensable force in our kitchen and beyond.

My youngest son, Jaryd, brings stories to life in a different realm. A gifted rigger and animator, he was part of the team behind How to Train Your Dragon, and now helps manage and shape the future of immersive storytelling. His wife, Ana, is equally extraordinary—a program officer at the James Irvine Foundation, where she supports meaningful and lasting change across California communities.

I feel extremely lucky to be the wife of a devoted beekeeper, and look forward to more family times and more adventures with my granddaughter and grandson.

"Let there be work, bread, water, and salt for all."
