Stories finding their way into the world

After years spent teaching, cooking, traveling, and writing, I'm delighted to share some of the places my stories are taking me.

Here you'll find news of publications, podcasts, literary gatherings, and occasional adventures along the way.

DECEMBER 2026

When We Gather to Eat

My essay, The Hunger We Carry, appears in When We Gather to Eat: An Anthology of Hunger, Heritage & Healing, edited by Lynne Golodner and published by Scotia Road Books.

Publication: December 15, 2026.

I'll also be participating in a December virtual launch gathering.

Where I'm From — Podcast

I'm looking forward to joining screenwriter, essayist, and author Alyson Shelton on her *Where I'm From* podcast, inspired by George Ella Lyon's beloved poem. We'll explore the people, places, memories, and unexpected details that shape our stories.

Alyson's new young adult novel in verse, Get a Grip, is also available now.

My episode details will be shared when available.

New Writing

The Whispering Kitchen Archive

I've launched a Substack where I'm sharing stories from professional kitchens, family memories, and glimpses into the writing of From Mesa to Messina.

My first piece, Stirring the Dragon, revisits a memorable encounter with a wok fire at the Culinary Institute of America.
